Reese has three older siblings. He attended Saint Michael's Montessori School, a non-denominational elementary school that was housed in St. Michael's Church on W. 99th Street in Manhattan, through fourth grade. Giant pandas, which enthralled Washington residents for nearly half a century, could make a return to the National Zoo, officials indicated Thursday after the San Diego Zoo announced its own deal to bring pandas back to its facility.
National Zoo director Brandie Smith said in a statement Thursday that zoo officials are “in discussions with our Chinese partner, the China Wildlife Conservation Association, to develop a future giant panda program.” Read More...
The last paragraph of "The battle of outsider scientists to gain mainstream acceptance," Margaret Wertheim's March 19 Book World review of Lawrence Weschler's book "Waves Passing in the Night," referred to Albert Einstein as once having been a famous patent-office clerk. Well, the term "clerk" was a bit misleading, as Einstein served as a patent examiner, which meant he read patent applications, conducted prior art searches and wrote to the applicants to let them know whether their invention would receive a patent.
