There’s a new housewife in town.
On Tuesday, Bravo finally announced the premiere date for Season 2 of “The Real Housewives of Potomac,” which first sassed up your small screen last January. Starting April 2, fans (and hate watchers) can get their Washington area drama fix.
The new season promises the familiar formula of finger-waving multiplied by champagne, with one new addition. Katie Rost, the “housewife” whose on-again, off-again “relationship” seemed contrived solely for the cameras, is out. Monique Samuels, the wife of former Washington Redskins player Chris Samuels, is stepping into the empty stilettos left by Rost’s exit (or ouster).
The other five housewives and former housewives — Gizelle Bryant, Ashley Darby, Robyn Dixon, Karen Huger and Charrisse Jackson Jordan — are all returning to the show.

According to the press release: “This time around, the drama is amped up even more, propelling the ladies head-on into crumbling marriages, betrayed friendships, promising romances, and shifting loyalties.” (That “crumbling marriage” would be the unsurprising end of cast member Jackson Jordan’s two-decade union with Eddie Jordan, a former basketball coach at Rutgers University and several NBA teams, including the Washington Wizards).
Other juicy plot lines on the horizon? Darby, who owns the Aussie restaurant Oz with her husband, is having business and baby woes. Dixon’s financial struggles continue with her ex-husband Juan, with whom she still shares a home (and perhaps more). Bryant remains the “single and ready to mingle” fun one of the bunch. And Huger, the self-proclaimed “grand dame” of Potomac, might be moving out of the zip code, leaving Jackson Jordan as the only cast member who actually lives there.
The melodrama on the schedule for the show’s second season seems deliberately on the upswing. Just months ago, a source close to production told us that Bravo brass was concerned that “Potomac” was frankly too boring compared to its other “Housewives” counterparts.
